WHAT MODEST FASHION IS ALL ABOUT?
The basis for modest clothing emerged from the idea of covering one’s body from head to toe including the notable characteristic of Muslim women worldwide – the “Hijab”, a word that represents the act of covering up but generally used to refer to the head garment or veil worn by Muslim women. Over decades, the intention of dressing modestly has evolved and become more individualistic and personified. Whether for religious reasons or as a personal choice, the modern Muslim woman is exploring different modest styles while accommodating the elemental idea of dressing modestly.
Even within the Muslim communities, the idea of dressing modestly differs locally, regionally and personally. Embracing the local culture, colors and designs while expressing one’s own personal taste, it is not possible to describe modest fashion using a confined set of words.
